Honorary Members

Gavin Glynn

Gavin was a young boy from Greystones, Co.Wicklow who came to Houston in 2014 to receive urgent treatment for an aggressive form of cancer. He was diagnosed at just 17 months and battled the illness for almost three years.

A ground-breaking procedure called HIPEC, pioneered at MD Anderson Cancer Center, was carried out but complications meant Gavin returned home in August to be cared for by his family until he passed away on October 21st 2014.

Despite his short time here in Houston Gavin made a huge impact on the Texas Irish community and the Houston Gaels. As a result Gavin became our first honorary member and each year the Gaels pub league compete for the Gavin Glynn Memorial Cup.
